Grange’s parks and gardens: which one to visit?
Separate the pond, bandstand and woodland options, then put together a manageable town visit.
Grange's green spaces have different purposes. The pond gardens, a bandstand visit and a woodland walk should not be described as one flat park. Choose the place that matches what you want to do, then check the route between it and your starting point.
Know the distinct gardens
The Town Council's parks directory identifies the Ornamental Gardens around the pond, the Normandy Veterans Gardens below Main Street, Yewbarrow Gardens and Park Road Gardens. The bandstand is in Park Road Gardens, not beside the Ornamental Gardens pond. Yewbarrow offers a connection to woodland routes, which needs a different walking decision from a brief garden stop.

Plan a pond visit thoughtfully
The council lists toilets at the Ornamental Gardens, with card payment or a Radar Key. It asks visitors not to feed the birds bread. Follow current signs about feeding and use suitable food only where permitted. Give children room to observe without encouraging birds to crowd around them.
For a relaxed town outing, make the gardens the main stop and leave the promenade optional. This is particularly useful after a journey: an enjoyable small visit is better than racing between every named green space. Bring what you need for a break and carry away litter.
Events and woodland extensions
Use the events sources to check a concert before arranging your day around it. A seasonal tradition is not a confirmed performance on your travel date. Check start and finish times, seating, access and cancellation arrangements with the organiser.
For a woodland extension, consult the walking leaflets linked from the council's page. Read the whole route first. Decide where you will return to town and whether the group still has enough time and energy. Keep a garden-only alternative if the ground or weather is unsuitable.
